The Korea Energy Agency (KEA) announced on Nov. 10 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the U.K.’s Building Research Establishment (BRE) on Nov. 6 (local time) to cooperate in technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and efficiently manage energy in the building sector and exchange related information.

The BRE is a private institution that carries out research, consultancy and testing in the eco-friendly construction and fire safety sectors in the U.K. In other words, it is a specialized institute in green construction.

The BRE plays a crucial role in accomplishing the target of national policy in the U.K. construction sector, such as design support to promote energy-saving buildings and green building certification.

Under the agreement, both companies will share technical cooperation and exchange information about the building certification systems. They will also hold regular workshops in order to improve the relationship between the two companies and strengthen their capabilities. In addition, they will publish reports about technologies in their areas of interest.
