Braemar to launch new LNG tank

Braemar’s technical division expects to receive approval from classification society Bureau Veritas for a new type of LNG cargo containment system soon.  Following the approval, the company plans to start marketing activities for the new tank. This was revealed by Andy Bright, Director of Braemar Engineering at a shipping event in London. Bright said that the company was in “advanced stages of approval” for the new containment system designed by Braemar, particularly suited to small scale LNG including bunkering. Höegh LNG orders another FSRU at HHI

Höegh LNG Holdings Ltd. has ordered another floating LNG import terminal. The news follows last week’s announcement that the company had signed an FSRU contract yesterday with Octopus LNG SpA for the Penco-Lirquén LNG import terminal in Chile (see earlier story). Today, the company reported that it has ordered its FSRU#8 at shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries ( HHI ) in South Korea.FSRU#8 is designed to the highest specifications, has full trading capability, regas capacity of 750 MMscf/day, and will be delivered in Q1 2018. The agreement with HHI also includes a firm priced option for an FSRU#9, with a predefined delivery window. Hyundai Heavy Industries Develops HHI Gas Management System for Fuelling LNG Carrier

Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI), the world’s biggest shipbuilder and a marine engine manufacturer, announced today that it independently developed HHI Gas Management System re-liquefying boil off gas (BOG) from a membrane LNG containment tank to use it as fuel for LNG carrier. The newly developed gas treatment system, composed of an ME-GI engine, a BOG high-pressure compressor, a BOG re-liquefaction system, an LNG fuel gas supply system (FGSS) and Hyundai integrated gas supply system (Hi-GAS), can re-liquefy 100 percent of the BOG and re-store it in the LNG tank which can later be used as the ship’s fuel, whereas the conventional systems can only re-liquefy BOG partially.
